Container Inspection

Without a doubt, the visual inspection of container is probably one of the most important parts of our Fleet Management Service. Every type of equipment, whether a dry van, reefer, flat rack or Open top etc is subjected to a detailed examination both internally and externally on its inbound receipt at our depot.

Why inspect?

The sole purpose of container equipment is to carry cargo safely and efficiently. A container must be kept in a seaworthy condition at all times as well as withstand inland road and rail transportation. Not to mention depot and port terminal handling in a wide spectrum of temperature and climate conditions.

Preservation of a containers dimensions must be kept within the recommended tolerances and its structural integrity is crucial for its freight movements.

Although containers are constructed of durable materials, like most equipment they are susceptible to damage and the deteriorating effect of the elements. Inspections are carried out to reveal conditions that may be considered unsafe, or which may reduce the suitability of a container such as cleanliness, odour, condensation etc. It is in the long term interests of all parties to ensure a proper inspection is undertaken and that the appropriate actions are taken.
